Commentary to the poem “Mother bore me in a white, just as sugar, shirt...”

Here is the final stanza:

One God’s servant bore his cross, but he had head lice.
They got spooked and chopped his head off to avoid harm.
Mourned the loss of him, and then went to their firesides,
Having not forgotten to turn his kids out of their one.

The poem was written in 1976.
