Poems and Songs of Vladimir Vysotsky. Serving the Elements.

Commentary to the song “The White Silence”.

The song was written for the film “The Sannikov Land” (1973), where the researchers set out to find the legendary warm land behind the Polar circle, performed in the film “72 degrees below zero” (1976).

There is Stanislav Slutsker’s song “Blow the Very Cold Winds”, which has much in common with this one.

The presented text is adapted from Stas and Margaret Porokhnya, Sergey Roy and George Tokarev’s translations.
