This poem calls to mind Lucius Annaeus Seneca’s words: “Suis rebus contentum esse maximae sunt divitiae.” (“Most powerful is he who has himself in his own power.”)

Here also comes to mind Gabdulla Tukay’s poem “The Firs” (1909).
