Commentary to the song “This night the sea cannot relax...”
This song is one of those songs where Vladimir Vysotsky wrote about the awaiting us Judgment. As the epigraph to it, there can be used Alexander Pushkin’s quatrain “On the Death of Pompeii” (1834).
Alexander Galich was a poet, a screenwriter, a playwright and a singer of his songs. He was forced to emigrate from the Soviet Union and died in Paris.
