Commentary to the song “This night the sea cannot relax...”

This song is one of those songs where Vladimir Vysotsky wrote about the awaiting us Judg­ment. As the epigraph to it, there can be used Alexander Pushkin’s quatrain “On the Death of Pompeii”.

Alexander Galich was a poet, a screenwriter, a playwright and a singer of his songs. He was forced to emigrate from the Soviet Union and died in Paris.
