Commentary to the poem “I stubbornly aspire to the bottom...”

This poem calls to mind Alexander Pushkin’s poem “To V. F. Raevsky” (mentioned in the com­men­tary to “The Goner’s Song”).

This is one of the poems where Vladimir Vysotsky wrote about his mission. He concluded it with the words:

One man has passed — there’s no woe in, But I will come once for your souls!

The poem was written in 1977.
