Poems and Songs of Vladimir Vysotsky. The Hill.
Commentary to “A Song about the Neutral Zone”.
“...it’s opened our frontier with Turkey just like the Kremlin gate...” — in 1955, a part of the territory of the Moscow Kremlin was opened to the Soviet citizens.
The first line is the literal translation of this line from a version of this song in the manuscript (Turkestan was one of the Soviet republics).
The presented text is adapted from Stas and Margaret Porokhnya’s translation.
