Poems and Songs of Vladimir Vysotsky. My Gypsy Song.

If there’s but a sadness in your soul...

If there’s but

 a sadness in your soul,

It’s just a light,

 untroublesome cardboard load.

It’s now been made clear,

 that they’re completely right,

Those personages who grin,

who so skeptically and darkly grin:

Espousals and feasts

won’t straighten out the line —

Some thing has disappeared,

and our sewing tears at the seams.
